This Privacy Policy explains how Plan2Dish ("Plan2Dish", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and safeguards information when you use our website, applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using Plan2Dish, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, information generated as you use the Service, and limited information from third parties that help us operate Plan2Dish.
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, password (stored as a salted hash), and authentication metadata. If you sign in with a third-party provider such as Google, we receive basic profile information from that provider.
Family Profiles
You may add household members and describe preferences such as dietary needs, allergies, disliked ingredients, favorite meals, and health tags. This information is used solely to personalize meal planning inside your household.
Kitchen Inventory
When you use kitchen inventory features, we store the items you add manually, via voice entry, via receipt scans, or via fridge/pantry photos, along with quantities, categories, storage locations, confidence scores, and expiration estimates.
Grocery Lists
We store the grocery lists you generate, including items, quantities, categories, and the recipes they are attributed to. Shared lists include the recipients you choose to share them with.
Recipe Storage
We store recipes you save, import from URLs, upload as images, or create in Plan2Dish, along with metadata such as ingredients, instructions, tags, and cook times.
Uploaded Images
Photos you upload (recipe photos, fridge/pantry photos, receipts) are processed by our AI features and stored so you can access them across your devices. You can delete uploaded images at any time.
AI-Powered Features
When you interact with Plan2Dish AI (meal planning, receipt OCR, voice entry, fridge scanning, chat, structured plan generation), we process your prompts, uploaded media, and the surrounding context (such as your current inventory or planner) to produce a response. We may retain conversation history so you can revisit previous suggestions.
Usage and Device Information
We automatically collect basic technical information such as device type, browser, operating system, approximate location derived from IP address, pages visited, and feature interactions. This helps us diagnose issues and improve the Service.
2. How We Use Information
- Operate, maintain, and improve Plan2Dish.
- Personalize meal plans, recipe suggestions, and grocery lists.
- Power AI features such as receipt OCR, fridge scanning, voice entry, and conversational planning.
- Authenticate you, secure your account, and prevent abuse.
- Communicate service updates, security notices, and — with your consent — product news.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
3. Third-Party Services
We share information only with service providers that help us run Plan2Dish, and only to the extent necessary. These include:
- Cloud infrastructure and databases for hosting and storage.
- AI providers to process prompts, images, receipts, and voice input.
- Authentication providers (e.g., Google) if you choose social sign-in.
- Email delivery providers (e.g., Brevo) for transactional and newsletter emails.
- Analytics and error monitoring to understand and improve the Service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.
4. Data Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encryption at rest for stored data, hashed credentials, scoped access controls, and row-level security policies for user data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to protect your information.
5. Your Rights
You can access, update, export, or delete your Plan2Dish data at any time from your account settings, or by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to:
- Request a copy of your personal data.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent for optional processing (such as marketing emails).

6. Cookies

When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law.

Plan2Dish is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.
9. Future Integrations
As Plan2Dish grows, we may add optional integrations such as grocery delivery services, smart appliances, nutrition trackers, or calendar apps. Any new integration will only share the minimum information required, will be clearly disclosed, and — where appropriate — will require your explicit opt-in.
